History
Letymvou, like many Cypriot villages, has a rich history shaped by its strategic location on the island. The village’s roots date back to antiquity, with evidence of settlements in the area dating as far back as the Hellenistic period. While specific historical records for Letymvou are scarce, its connection to the wider Paphos district ensures that it has been part of Cyprus’ varied and often turbulent history, including Byzantine, Frankish, and Ottoman rule.
Over time, Letymvou has maintained its agricultural character, with olive and citrus farming being central to its economy for centuries. The village was also impacted by the Turkish invasion of 1974, which led to significant displacement and changes in the local landscape. Today, Letymvou remains a peaceful village where traditional ways of life are still preserved, even as it slowly grows and welcomes visitors.
